The pace goes from 0 to 100 in a single chapter and keeps it up for the whole second half of the book. And then all of that is ignored when Jackaby and Rook go out to defeat the evil king together, ignoring said gathered forces and plan. The first and last 50 pages were amazing, yet everything in between was a bit meh.Ī large part of the book is spent gathering forces and making a plan… and it really slow.
